Why is Elon Musk forming a new team, what does he want to do?
The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has announced the formation of a new political party in the United States. This party has been named the ‘America Party’. Musk said that he has formed the new party to challenge the political system that has developed in the United States. The billionaire announced the formation of the party amid increasing bitterness in his relationship with US President Donald Trump.
On his social media account X, Musk announced the formation of the ‘America Party’ last Saturday. In a post, he wrote, ‘When it comes to bankrupting our country through waste and corruption, we are not living in a democracy, but in a one-party system. The America Party was formed today to give you back your freedom.’
He also posted a picture of a two-headed snake in the X post. He wrote in the caption, ‘End the uniparty (different parties but essentially acting as one party).’
A day before announcing the party, Elon Musk conducted a survey on X on Friday. The day was US Independence Day. In that survey, Musk asked his followers whether they wanted freedom from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system or not? By two parties, he meant the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. The two parties have dominated US politics for almost two centuries.
In Musk’s survey, X users had the opportunity to express their opinions by ‘yes’ or ‘no’. More than 1.2 million users voted in the survey. After the survey, Musk wrote, “You asked for a new political party by a two-to-one ratio. You will get it.”
Although he now opposes the two-party system in the United States, Musk supported Republican candidate Trump in the 2024 presidential election. He donated a large amount of money to Trump’s election campaign. After being elected, Trump appointed Musk to the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He later stepped down from that position. Since then, the relationship between the two has gradually soured.
